We Were Honoured to be One of the Sponsors for the Byron Bay Caper Festival in 2024.
The Caper Festival describes itself as a food and culture festival. An immersive and inclusive ten-day celebration of Byron Bay and Northern Rivers region’s past, present and future. We were lucky enough to attend three of these events and witnessed not only incredible food and displays of creativity, but a real sense of community and camaraderie amongst the locals, visitors, event organisers and everyone in between!
Ember Industries supplied both custom and standard pieces across the range for both the local and interstate chefs to “put through their paces” as they cooked for the masses across the festival. Here’s our recap!
TASTE THE CAPE OPENING PARTY – THREE BLUE DUCKS
Guests at this event had the opportunity to sample signature dishes from more than a dozen bucket-list local restaurants. Local culinary stars included:
Three Blue Ducks – Darren Robertson, Raes on Wategos – Jason Saxby, Harvest Newrybar – Marcello Polifrone, The Hut – Bruno Conti, Pipit – Ben Devlin, You Beauty – Matt Stone, Beach Byron Bay – Karl Kanetani, The Eltham – Alanna Sapwell, Light Years – Robbie Oijvall, North Byron Hotel – Jedd Rifai, Bang Bang Byron Bay- Pepsi Nakbunchuay, Karkalla – Mindy Woods and Salty Mangroves – David Moyle.
Whilst appetites were building, an immersive welcome to country, celebratory drink and ambience around the Ember Industries fire pits set the jubilant mood for the evening.
FIRE WITH FIRE: ARKHÉ X SERAI DINNER PRESENTED BY THREE MEADOWS
We joined two of Australia’s most exciting young chef’s, Jake Kellie (arkhé, Adelaide) and Ross Magnaye (Serai kitchen, Melbourne) for an all-inclusive intimate 5-course dining experience in Byron’s exquisite Hinterland. The headline chefs created a truly theatrical dining experience, as guested mulled around the open flame that charred and smoked each element on the plate.
The whole experience felt like a dream. From travelling to the stunning Three Meadows via the double-decker “Love Bus”, being greeted with a signature cocktail, to overall mood set by lighting, live music and Ember fire pits.
‘WE LIKE TO TIKI’ FESTIVAL CLOSING PARTY PRESENTED BY NORTH BYRON HOTEL
One last treat that did not disappoint. A “Hawaiian, paradisiacal buffet-style delight” cooked by Louis Tikaram (The Stanley, Brisbane), Ross Magnaye (Serai Kitchen, Melbourne), Jedd Rifai (North Byron Hotel, Byron Bay), and Hawaiian legend chef Karl Kanetani (Beach Byron Bay).
Paired with a modern Mai Thai and an incredible live band, this was the perfect send off!
Thanks for having us, Caper Fest! See you next year.
